Chuck Romano was bitten by the magic bug when he was five
years old. For Christmas he received a Marshall Brodien "TV
Magic" set from his parents. Around this time he also saw
the 1953 motion picture "Houdini", starring Tony Curtis. These
two catalysts started him on his magical journey. Since his
first public appearance in 1979, Chuck has amazed and amused
thousands of people at schools, restaurants, clubs, private
functions and other venues with his unique brand of entertainment.
Besides performing magic, Chuck is an avid collector of magic memorabilia
and a historian of conjuring. In 1997, he wrote, designed
and self-published the book, "The Art of Deception, or The
Affinity Between Conjuring and Art". It received rave reviews
from the magic community and was the first book in the history
of conjuring to pay tribute to the men and women who have
created "magic art" throughout the ages. In 1999, the book
was honored by the Society of American Magicians' with their
Henry Ridgely Evans History Award. That same year, Chuck self-published
his second book, "House of Cards - The Life and Magic of Paul
Rosini". Like his first book, it became a must have book for
magicians around the world.
Chuck's other writings on magic have appeared in several
magic trade publications including Genii, MUM, MAGIC, Magicol
and The Linking Ring. He received a Linking Ring Award for
his May, 1992 article on the history of magic in Chicago.
In 1996, Chuck won the prestigious Linking Ring Trophy for
the "Best Series" in the journal.
Movie studios and television production companies such as The Learning Channel and White Pine Pictures of Canada have sought out Chuck's expertise on the history of magic. Chuck wrote, directed and
co-produced his own television special in 2000 and it premiered on Aurora Community Television (a division of Cable Access). The special was recognized with three nominations for the Cammy Award -- public access television's equivalent of the Emmy.
In 2000, Chuck was asked by a .com to create a magic "portal" on the Internet. It was one of the first, and he wrote several original articles
on magic for the website.
In 2006 Chuck released his third book, "The Mechanics of Marvels", and it sold out in less than six months! The book discussed the history of magic patents and listed over 500 patents from some of magic's greatest thinkers.
Chuck continues to hone his craft by performing, collecting and writing about all that is magic.
